We’re Ready To Resume Orientation If FG Gives Greenlight – NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed readiness to commence activities at orientation camps as soon as the federal government gives the go-ahead.

NYSC said this after the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, on Thursday, advised its management to get set to resume orientation exercises, possibly, after the completion of the extended eased lockdown.

“In this connection therefore, as soon as greenlight is given by Federal Government, full operations will resume,” NYSC stated in a Facebook post on Friday.

The Corps also noted that the government had lauded the role played by the NYSC in producing certain medical materials to assist in the fight against covid-19.

“The Federal Government, through the Presidential Task Force on COVID – 19 ( PTF ) and National Centre for Disease Control ( NCDC ) deeply appreciates the efforts of Corps Members towards combating the spread of COVID – 19 in the country, through various interventions, such as production of face masks, hand sanitisers, liquid soaps,  soap – water – and – hand sanitiser – dispensers, donated to government institutions as well as communities in the country,” it stated.

It stressed that such feat was traceable to the disposition of the outgoing and current corps members.

The statement further reads: “Management wishes to assure CMs and PCMs that the Corps has been interfacing with the relevant agencies of Government such as PTF and NCDC, with a view to restoring normalcy in the operations of the Scheme.

“Meanwhile, CMs and PCMs are advised to exercise patience and restraint as they observe COVID – 19 protocols of social/physical distancing, proper washing of hands with soap for at least twenty seconds, use of alcohol – based hand sanitiser and wearing of face mask.

“Always stay tuned to NYSC traditional and new media platforms for correct and relevant information as events unfold.

“Together, we shall emerge stronger in post COVID – 19.”
