Kwara State University (KWASU) gets new Vice Chancellor

It is no longer news that the youngest Professor in Kwara State who is also one of the children of late law jurist and pioneer ICPC chairman, Rtd Justice Mustapha Akanbi, has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor, kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, kwara State. Prof MM Akanbi is a professor of business law in University of Ilorin.

Professor Akanbi who was born in the 70s had his LL.B from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State in 1997. His LL.M follows at the Lagos State University. Subsequently, he obtained his Ph.D from King’s
College, London between 2004-2006. Earlier, he served (NYSC) at the Legal Department of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and later joined the chambers of Olawoyin & Olawoyin for his pupillage and Oyedele Gafar & Co. in 1997.

In his 40s, MM as fondly called among his colleagues, rose from lecturer II to become a professor of law in 2012. Afterwards, he had held many positions before he eventually became Director of Preliminary Studies in the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
Prof MM Akanbi is now the new Vice Chancellor, kwara State University. It is indeed a blessing to his immediate family, to Gambari Community, to the Emirate ,Ilorin and Kwara State at large. I wish him the very best in his new appointment as I hope he will justify the confidence reposed in him by the state government.
