JAMB CAPS Has Helped Eliminate Fraudsters and Unqualified Candidates – Babcock University VC

The Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Prof. Adeyemo Tayo, has described the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) as a wonderful innovation that has helped to eliminate fraudsters, admission racketeers, and unqualified candidates from the admission value chain. CAPS, a brainchild of Prof. Oloyede that was introduced in 2017, is an automated admission platform for the nation’s tertiary institutions which was designed to preclude human interference in the admission process as well as provide an active platform through which all major stakeholders in the admission process could function.

This is because the platform enhances fairness, credibility, openness, transparency, and equity in the conduct of admissions. In addition, candidates are given the opportunity to either accept or reject offers of admission if they are not pleased with the programmes offered. In a chat with JAMBulletin, the erudite Professor also submitted that the implementation of CAPS had not only weeded out undesirable elements but had gone a long way in sanitizing the admission process while boosting public confidence in the admission process.

Prof. Tayo said, “The introduction of CAPS by the present leadership of JAMB has instilled global best practices in the screening of candidates for admission, eliminating multiple admissions and admission racketeers as well as preventing unqualified candidates from gaining entrance into our tertiary institutions.

Babcock University, as a citadel of learning, identifies with all these laudable strides. Now that the 2020 Policy Meeting on Admissions is fast approaching, I enjoin the Board to take into consideration those institutions that have made stable academic calendar a hallmark of their academic agenda in its scheduling of admission activities.”
