The Federal University of Technology, Minna has shown its readiness for resumption amid the ravaging COVID-19.
In a information received by a member of TEAM PLATO REPORTS this evening, The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdullahi Bala gave developments concerning their resumption. In his statement, He said “We’re looking at different scenarios, the worst case, where they cannot come back”, we cannot continue to stay at home, we have to proceed online because we have to give lectures and proceed with examinations. If they can come back and we want to ensure safety protocols are maintained which involves physical distancing and all, we have to ensure that the classes are not overcrowded.
Prof. Abdullahi Bala has stated that online learning platforms remain one of the viable options open to the the institution for the resumption of academic activities owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Vice-Chancellor stated this when he featured on a Channels Television magazine show tagged: Covid-19 Pandemic Update. The session, which was broadcast on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, was monitored by the University Press Unit.
Prof. Bala disclosed that the University has put several preventive measures in place to curb the spread of the virus on campus. The University don revealed that these include social distancing principles as well as other health protocols which will help decongest large classes and overcrowded hostels.
Furthermore, he disclosed that the institution is fully ready to go online in a worst case scenario, if students are unable to physically resume.
