Three staff members of the University of Ilorin have been honoured by the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA), for their dedication, promotion, and contributions to the mission and vision, as well as being good ambassadors of OAU in their work places.
The Achievement Awards ceremony, which held on Saturday (February 26, 2022) at the Bovina View Hotel, Ilorin, was part of the 12th UNIFEMGA National HonoursAward’s Programme The trio, who were among the 29 members of the Association honoured on the occasion, include Dr. Bilqis A. Lawal, a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the Pharmacognosy Unit, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences; Dr. Abdulwasiu Oyewale Olagunju, a Clinical Pharmacist in the NHIS Unit, Pharmacy Department, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH); and Pharm. Ibrahim Oluwasegun Eniayewu, a lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Speaking with UNILORIN BULLETIN after the event, the former National President of UNIFEMGA and BOT member, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), said that in order for Nigerians to achieve their goals and move forward, they have to stay as believers, remain focused and remain involved, stressing that it is not enough to participate effectively in ensuring that there is good governance, accountability and transparency in the country and then sit back.
Prof. Egbewole, who is a former Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, called for attitudinal change by Nigerians for the country to achieve true greatness.
In his submission, the UNIFEMGA National President, Alhaji Abdul-Fattah Olanlege, said, “Leaders are a reflection of the people they lead; if any good is to be attained in the society, it starts with leadership”.
