FCT may shut schools over #EndSARS Protest

The Management of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Education Secretariat, Abuja is currently in a crucial meeting over the best strategy to handle the #ENDSARS protest which has already been hijacked by alleged hoodlums.

Kabiru Musa, the PRO of the FCT Education Secretariat who disclosed this to BusinessDay also hinted the possibility of closing down all schools in the territory over the continuous protests by those calling for the complete reform of the police.

Musa said that schools in Kubwa and Nyanya, are most likely to be closed due to the violence coming from those areas.

Already, a peaceful protest by the #EndSARS protesters yesterday degenerated into a clash between the protesters and hoodlums at the Apo Mechanic Village, Abuja leading to the death of six people.

The six people were said to be burnt by the miscreants who appeared and accosted the peaceful protesters at Kabusa junction.

About 9:30 am today, a group of miscreants wielding all manner of dangerous weapons chased away peaceful protesters and blocked the Dutse junction, along the busy Kubwa-Zuba expressway.

Many vehicles had to turn back to take alternate routes as economic activities within the area, including filling stations were shut down.

Few market women at the popular Kubwa market, who spoke to BusinessDay, lamented that patronage has been low since Friday last week due to the protest.
